my mind's swirling with images, thoughts, sounds, smells of the day. the old ice cream man outside redhill mrt, the blind man who refused help to find a spot to sit down, the uplifting smiles of the sales ladies at mr bean's. in the train, the smell of fart that came in whiffs in unknown directions; i couldn't make out if it was the old man sitting on my left, the huge guy whose big butt was facing me, or the young man on my right trying his best to memorise textile stuffs from his textbook(i presume so, it looked like he was going to sit for a test). and later, on the long journey back, the korean guy reading korean newspapers on my right who smelled of smoke. on my left sat a brown-haired girl in a bright peach jacket and short black skirt. suddenly it felt as though i was in korea. though honestly, i haven't been there so it's not an accurate judgment. 2 old people entered the train, and 2 aunties got off as quickly as though they realised the chair was on fire. a sixty-ish man got on, decked in sports gear with a waistpouch and a haversack. i contemplated giving my seat to him, but was afraid he'd get offended. "i'm so fit, not old yet! you sit down!" something like that. it reminded of a conversation i had with my nj juniors about offering seats to women with paunches thinking they were pregnant. embarrassing! so anyway it was near tiong bahru and a girl got off. the man took her seat quickly, though there weren't anybody close-by who would snatch it from him. anyhow, i was then reminded-yet again-why i never liked to sit in trains. sigh, why do i need so many reminders. the last time i forgot why i always stood, i sat, and 2 people on either side of me slept inclined in my direction. so i was pretty much sandwiched. no wait, that wasn't the last time. the last time, i almost sat on a smudge of suspicious brownish-red substance. (that was fresh, might i add, cos i brushed it with my finger to see if it wasn't. it was most disgusting and i don't wish to talk anymore about it.) i've learnt, i've learnt.
JM's loud, sudden bursts of laughter keeps ringing in my ear, along with the rhythmic sounds A makes. M's tiptoeing makes me smile all the time, i'd say "M, why are you walking like a ballerina??"so many of them, so innocent, sweet, endearing. i'd hate for school to start; i'd miss them dearly. sighhhhh. i'm dreading school.
